Welcome to Cricklade Manor Nursery, a happy and nurturing place within easy reach of Swindon and Cirencester, where children thrive and grow. We are open year round from 7.30am-6pm, providing affordable, high-quality fun, learning and adventures.
Nursery is often a child’s first experience of spending time away from immediate family, so our first focus is to create an environment that is happy, warm and safe, ensuring children are emotionally supported with outstanding pastoral care. Feeling safe and secure is the first step to building confidence and enthusiasm, and our boys and girls quickly settle down to making friends, playing and exploring.
A team of experienced and inspirational staff engage their curiosity and imagination, supporting them as they take their first steps in a lifetime of discovery and learning. The world opens up before them as they explore through purposeful play, and learn to enjoy learning. We encourage our children to ask questions and explore ideas, and every day means a fresh adventure.
From the moment your child starts at Cricklade Manor Nursery, they will enter a happy and exciting environment. No two children are alike, so we encourage our children to follow their interests, and, for our youngest children especially, play is child led. We encourage their curiosity and wonder in the world around them, exploring nature in our beautiful walled garden and Forest School, or discovering expression through art or music. Our staff are there to support and guide the children in their learning, asking questions to challenge and extend learning and understanding, and encouraging creativity, risk taking and exploring, and resilience when trying new things.
As the children grow, the opportunities for them to explore and and develop grow with them. We encourage them to pursue what interests them most, in the classroom and outside in the walled garden. This child-led approach feeds that enthusiasm for learning that will stand them in such good stead as they grow, while our focus on each child as an individual means that we can support their development, giving them new challenges and feeding their curiosity. With brains like sponges, it is wonderful to watch how quickly they pick up new skills, increasing in independence.
Once children join the Pre-School class, learning, while still play based, becomes a little more structured in preparation for starting school. We love watching their ever-growing confidence and independence, as they discover how many skills they can conquer. Our classrooms are organised to allow children to explore and learn both independently and collaboratively. We take time to understand each child’s interests and the way they learn, so we can provide them with an experience that really helps them thrive. By the time they leave us, they are confident and enthusiastic to start the next part of their learning.
All the children at the Nursery benefit from the highly experienced teaching staff from the Cricklade Manor Prep school for specialist subjects. Weekly PE sessions, based around movement, ball skills and body control, are led by our PE staff and Forest School sessions are led by a qualified Forest School leader. As the children move up into our Pre-School class, they begin music sessions with our specialist music teachers and the school’s Modern Foreign Languages specialist introduces the children to French.
